Lara steps out of the temple into the Egyptian night. She climbs
up to find another small cat statue, identical to the one that is in
her gallery, except the markings on this one has been eroded by the
elements. Surely someone would have taken an interest in the
temple that this statue was pointing at, if the glyphs had been
intact, Lara thought. She shrugs and makes her way back to
civilization... [well... a modern extant one, anyways].
The next day, Lara brings an astonished Malik and senior Egyptian
archaeologists to the temple that houses the giant statue. "We've known
about this temple for centuries but have never slated it to be
excavated because we thought it did not contain anything of
significance. No one would supply funds for such a dig. No
archaeologist I know, including myself, would believe that the ancient
Egyptians of this period had the technology to excavate such a deep
pit to house this enormous statue."
"I've learned not to underestimate the abilities of any ancient
civilization," Lara answers coolly.
Malik turns to ask, "How can we ever show our gratitude to you for
sharing such a find with us?"
Lara smiles and says, "Never you mind, Nassar. I only play for
sport."
