Barkhang Monastery |

Run forward into the darkness, and then turn right when Lara reaches
the end. Run down the slope, and walk forward when Lara reaches the
bottom which leads to the entrance to the monastery. Lara will
stumble into the middle of a fight between a mercenary (1), a commando (2)
and two monks (3, 4). If Lara moves
closer, another monk will arrive (5) from
the left and join the fray. Wait until either the monks lose or Lara
is definitely locked onto a mercenary before opening fire. If Lara
accidentally hits one of the monks, all the subsequent monks will
identify her as an enemy.1. After the mercenaries are dead, collect two Uzi clips (1, 2) from one dead enemy, and a small Medi pack (3), and clips for the automatics (4) from the other. Turn left and head across the front of the monastery. Continue to the opening in the rock face and run inside. Turn right and vault onto the ledge and continue forward. Ready pistols to take out a raven (6) that's flying around above. Turn around and return to the front of the monastery, and climb up the ladder across from the front stairs. As soon as Lara pulls up, ready pistols and charge forward as another raven (7) flies out from the right. Run past it and reverse to kill it. Walk back to the top of the ladder and take a standing jump diagonally to the right to reach an alcove. Turn around and take a standing jump and grab to reach the opening above. Run forward and drop down to the ledge below. Run forward along the ledge and take a diagonal standing jump to the right to reach the rocks. Ready pistols and reverse to look around for yet another raven (8) flying around. Continue to the far side of the rocky ridge, and turn right. Walk forward until the rocks are too steep to walk on, and take a diagonal jump up and to the right, landing on a slope too steep to stand on. Lara will slide backward, so grab the bottom of the ledge. Release, and grab onto the crevice below, and shimmy to the left until Lara can pull herself up. Turn left and step onto the balcony of the monastery, and stand in front of one of the windows. Reverse roll into the window to break it open and enter the monastery without taking any damage from the glass. Turn around and run forward through the library, and turn right. Run along the right wall into the next room, passing a hallway to the left and a monk (9) that is patrolling that hallway. In the next room, a mercenary (10) will burst into the room through the window, so ready weapons and open fire. The monk will arrive to help. After the mercenary is dead, collect automatics clips (5) from him. Run out the window and turn right to pick up some grenades (6) that mercenary apparently dropped. Turn and reenter the monastery through the window. Run forward and turn left and turn right and run down the hallway. Enter the first door on the left, and another monk (11) will charge out of the room from the right. Turn around and follow him back to the room Lara just came from to find that another commando (12) has arrived. If both of the last two monks are alive, it will be difficult to lock onto the mercenary but most likely the two monks will probably make short work of the mercenary for Lara. Collect a small Medi Pack (7) and Uzi clips (8) from the dead commando. If Lara is not carrying the Uzis, she will receive a pair of Uzis here instead of the clips. |

Main Hall Key
|
Return to the hallway and reenter the first room on the left. Run
into the room and turn right. Enter the alcove and climb up the
ladder. At the top of the ladder, Lara will find herself on a ledge
above a great hall, with a monk (13)
guarding a catwalk and platform suspended in the middle of the room.
Turn right and run forward to the catwalk, turning left and running
out to the suspended platform. On a dais in the middle of the
platform is the Main Hall Key (9). Grab
it and turn around and head back for the catwalk. Turn left and continue along the ledge that runs all around the wall, following it to the left. The ledge ends in a drop to a stone room. Drop to the floor of the room, and run diagonally across the room to the opposite corner without stopping. A boulder trap will be triggered, and when it rolls past. Enter the tunnel the boulder rolled out of and run up the slope, and down into the darkness. Ahead the tunnel junctions with another tunnel. Run out into the junction, and immediately hop back as another boulder drops from above and rumbles past. When it's safe, step forward and pick up the box of flares (10) and turn left. Run up the slope, past the first hallway, to the top of the slope. Turn right and continue to the top of the slope to where Lara will find a pool with running water. There is a huge drain at the bottom which creates a strong current downward in the pool. Dive forward into the pool and swim along the wall of the pool. Turn left when Lara reaches the corner and continue swimming slightly upward and against the wall. The current will attempt to pull Lara under. Swim along the wall until Lara reaches the underwater tunnel. Turn right and enter the tunnel and swim forward until the water is shallow enough to stand. Run forward and drop down the deep shaft to land in the water below. Light a flare to improve visibility. Turn right and swim until the water is shallow enough to stand in. Run forward until Lara can hear the snapping of metal doors. There are a total of three sets of these doors, so walk forward until Lara is half a block from the doors, and time a run through just as the doors open. Continue forward carefully and repeat this procedure for the next two sets of doors. The tunnel will finally turn to the right twice. Follow it the end and climb up the ladder. A the top of the ladder is a room with a monk (14). Ready heavy firepower as soon as Lara pulls up from the ladder. Charge forward to beat the monk to the doorway, but be careful not to enter the doorway yet. Lara will lock onto a mercenary (15) that emerges from the doorway, so take him out as the monk keeps him occupied. Now stand outside the doorway and chuck a flare inside to help see inside. Stand outside and slightly to the left of the doorway. Wait until the monk enters the doorway, then step into the doorway, a commando (16) will emerge from hiding on the left. Hopefully the monk is doing his part, so open fire, preferably with Uzis, on the mercenary until he is dead. Pick up a small Medi Pack (11) from the first mercenary. |

Prayer Wheel #1
|
Light a flare upon entering the next room, and turn left. There are a
series of lamps arranged in tiers. Take a running jump over the first
set of lamps, and then run to one side and take a diagonal running
jump over the second set of lamps, twisting a little in midair. In
the left corner of the room is the first of the Prayer Wheels (12). Picking it up will ignite the lamps, so be careful after doing so. Sidestep to the right until Lara is pressed against the wall. Step forward until Lara is near the front edge of the platform the prayer wheels were on. Take a standing jump forward over the upper set of lamps. Then walk forward and take another standing jump over the lower set of lamps. Run forward and turn right to exit this room. Ahead and slightly to the right are a couple of wooden crates. Pull the first crate, which is embedded in the arch of the wall, once away from the arch. Embedded in the wall is a second crate. Pull it once out of the wall, and then run around the first crate and pull it once along the wall to revel the passageway it was blocking. Enter the passageway, and turn right. Turn left at the alcove and climb up the ladder. Run forward and squeeze around the right side of the boulder and turn right. Run up the slope and turn left and enter the dark tunnel. Run up a short slope, and down a longer slope back down to the room Lara was formerly in. Vault up onto the ledge and run forward along the catwalk. If the monk that was patrolling the catwalk was killed, then Lara will have to deal with a commando (17) on this catwalk. Otherwise, the monk will probably have already disposed of this commando. Run all the way down the ledge to the far end. Turn left at the alcove and climb back down the ladder. Reverse and exit this room and turn left. Run forward and use the main hall key in the lock on the left wall to open the double doors to the main hall. Run inside the main hall to find a monk (18) patrolling the floor, while two more monks (19, 20) join him from the left. Turn around and face the doorway, and ready pistols. Back away from the double doors until two commandos (20, 21) and a mercenary (22) arrive. The monks in the main hall, as well as any surviving monks on this floor, will arrive and attack the Fiama Nera. After all the gunmen are dead, collect clips (13) for the automatics, a Large Medi Pack (14) from the commandos, and a small Medi Pack (15) from the dead mercenary2. |

Strongroom Key
|
Facing the large statue of a Buddha, enter the first passageway on the right. Inside the room, turn right, running between the two tables, and then turn left. There is a long passageway ahead. Run forward and take a running jump over the first blade and stop. Enter the doorway on the left to find the Strongroom Key (16) which is guarded by a monk (24). Grab the key, and exit this room, turning right and taking a running jump over the first blade. | ||
Rooftops Key
|
Run forward and turn right and then left to exit the room with the two
tables back into the main hall. Turn left upon entering the main
hall, and exit the main hall through the double doors. Run forward to
the end of the hallway, and turn left. Run forward to enter the
room. Ahead is a doorway that appears to be boarded up. To the left
of the doorway is a key hole. Use the strongroom key, to open the
boards. Enter the strong room and turn right and climb up to obtain
the Rooftops Key (17). Turn around and drop down to the floor and exit the strongroom. Run forward to exit this room, and turn right down the entry hallway. Enter the first room on the right, with the two rolling blades. Time a run past the two blades diagonally to the left when the closer blade rolls past to the left. Use the key to open the door to the rooftop. Enter the doorway and run up the stairs to the rooftop. Turn right and run through the gateway that is flanked by two golden statues. Turn right and run to the small alcove. Make a hairpin turn to the right to find a lever on the wall. Pull the lever to temporarily extinguish the flames that line the other passage. Immediately hop back and turn slightly to the right and run forward. Turn left to return through the gateway and then turn right in front of the hallway with the lamps. The easiest thing to do is to quickly run into the hallway and turn and face the side. Take at least five side flips over the lamps to cross them and get a safe distance away. Even if the lamps ignite before Lara crosses the last one, she'll probably clear it using the flips. When Lara reaches the other side, ready weapons3. Turn left and step down, and reverse. With weapons drawn, start hopping backwards. A mercenary (23) and a commando (24) will emerge from the hallway with lamps. Open fire as two monks (25, 26) rush from behind to assist Lara. When both are dead, collect Uzi clips (18) and a small Medi Pack (19) from the enemies. |

Gemstone #1 & #2
|
Return to the courtyard with the golden gratings in the ground and
pull the lever that is on the far column to open the gratings. Safety
drop into either one the gratings. In the room below, one side will
be a bamboo fence that stretches the length of the room, while the
opposite side of the room will be a cabinet. Shoot out the glass
cabinet doors, and climb inside to pick up two Gemstones (20, 21). Exit the cabinet, and turn left.
Run forward to enter the adjacent room, and turn left twice to find a
ladder and a lever. Throw the lever to open the grating in the
ceiling, then climb up the ladder. Run forward and turn right. Climb up the ladder on the wall to reach a ledge above. Pick up some M-16 clips (22) and then safety drop back to the roof. Turn right and run up the stairs. Turn left and run up the next flight of stairs, and at the first landing, turn right to reach the top of the steps. Make a hairpin turn to the left and run between another pair of golden statues. Insert one of the gemstones into the receptacle to move the large sculpture of the sun that is behind Lara. |

Prayer Wheel #2
|
Reverse directions and run forward and to the right into the alcove
that is now opened. Turn left to find a wooden crate. Pull the crate
twice to remove it from the recess in the wall. Climb over it and
drop down the other side. Run forward into the tunnel and collect the
second of the Prayer Wheels (23).
Reverse directions and either run around the sculpture of the sun or
climb over the crate to exit the room. Run forward across the courtyard, down the steps, and turn left and take jumps back down the hallway with the lamps, which are now permanently extinguished. Run forward and to the right and down the stairs back into the monastery. Back in the room with the rolling blades, time a run diagonally to the left past them when the closer blade rolls past to the left. Back in the main hallway, turn right to return to the main hall. |

SECRET #1
|
At this point Lara can take a little detour. Run forward into the main hall, and down the steps on the right at the back of the hall. Turn right and run down the hallway. Not that this area isn't already crawling with monks, but there are two more monks (29, 30) that are guard this hallway. Run forward and enter the first passageway on the left, just before the hallway ends in the larger room. The passage will weave to the right and then loop back to the left and open to a large room with a pool guarded by another monk (31). Dive right into the water and swim forward across the pool on the far side in the left corner, there is an underwater tunnel. Swim into it and the turn right to collect SECRET #1, the stone dragon (24). Reverse, exit the underwater passage, swim back across the pool, exit the pool, exit the room via the winding passageway, and turn right and run back down to the main hall. Turn left and run up the stairs. | ||
While facing the Buddha, turn right and enter the passageway on the
right, near the front railing, and turn left. Climb up the ladder,
and when Lara reaches the upper ledge, run forward and turn left.
Walk forward to the end of the tunnel and take a running jump and grab
to reach the statue's lower left hand. Walk forward and turn right to
walk onto to the statue's upper arm, and turn around to the right.
Climb higher to the upper hand with the flame, and turn around. Take
a running jump and grab to reach the statue's head. Run across the
statue's head, and take a running jump to its other hand. Walk
forward and take a standing jump to reach the alcove above. Pull up and insert the second of the two gemstones into the receptacle to open a pair of trapdoors in the floor beneath the statue. Turn around and take a standing jump back down to the hand. Take a running jump and grab to climb back onto the statue's head, and then safety drop off the other side of the head. Turn around and walk out diagonally to the right and take a running jump and grab to return to the top of the ladder. Run forward and turn right and climb back down the ladder. Reverse, run forward, and turn right to exit this tunnel. Run forward and turn right and step down and turn left. |

SECRET #2
|
Take a standing jump over the gap to reach the base of the Buddha statue. Turn right and run to the back of the statue. Turn left and run forward until Lara reaches the slope. Take a standing jump up onto the slope, and turn left. Climb up into the alcove and collect SECRET #2, the gold dragon (25). Hop back to drop down out of the alcove, turn left and slide down the slope. Run forward and turn right, and head back toward the front of the statue. | ||
Drop down into the area between the floor of the main hall and the
base of the statue. On the right is a passageway that leads to a
short room underneath the statue. Run forward and drop into the hole
in the floor, past the grating that was opened earlier. Run forward
into the tunnel and turn right. Run up the dark tunnel until Lara
reaches the end. Jump and climb up out of the tunnel. Walk forward
and slightly to the left to find a lever on the wall to the right.
Pull the lever to open the door that is behind Lara. Reverse and run forward and to the left, and enter the doorway. Inside is the source of all the water outside. Run forward until Lara reaches the slope that is too steep to tread on, then turn left and step up onto dry land. Walk diagonally across the brown sloping surface up into the corner. Turn right and push the block to cut off the flow of water to the room outside and listen to the sound of the pool draining away in the next room. |

Prayer Wheel #3
|
Turn right and walk down the slope and exit this room through the
doorway. Turn left and walk to the edge of the aqueduct. Turn around
and slide down the slope backwards, grabbing onto the lower edge.
Safety drop to the floor and reverse directions. Run across the empty
pool and climb up onto the ledge with the wooden crate. Push the
wooden crate once to reveal an alcove behind it. Turn right and enter
the alcove to pick up the third Prayer Wheel (26). Turn around and run forward, dropping to the floor of the dry pool, and continue across the pool. Turn left after passing the central pillar and climb up the ladder to the top. Turn left and exit this room through the winding passage. Upon exiting the winding passage, turn right and run forward down the hallway. Turn left to enter the first open doorway on the left. Upon entering the dark storage room, Lara will find a stack of crates directly ahead, as well as another monk (32) on the left. Enter the dark room, and run around to the left side of the stack of crates, and pull the outside corner crate once away from the stack. Now climb up onto the crate and drop down on the left side of the crate between some barrels, and push the crate once so that it is against the wall. Turn left and pull the middle crate to the left once, and climb over it to collect automatics clips (27), now turn right and run around to the first crate, and pull it once so that it blocks the doorway. Climb onto the first crate and turn right. Pull the upper crate once, and drop down to the right. Turn left and run forward and climb onto the back center crate. Turn left to collect two sets of harpoons (28, 29). Run forward to drop down off the crates, and continue running until Lara reaches the far end of the room. Turn left to go around the barrels, and then turn right to continue further down the hall. Run forward and as soon as Lara sets a foot on the grating, which will drop open as Lara passes over it, take a running jump to avoid falling into the pit. If Lara falls in, immediately press the action key to grab the ladder below. Continue forward until Lara reaches the end of the tunnel and turn right at the intersect with the next tunnel. Draw pistols, and run forward, turning left at the passage. Run up the steps and shoot open the window, as two mercenaries (33, 34) and two commandos (35, 36) approach with guns blazing from behind. Immediately put away pistols and when Lara reaches the top of the stairs, perform a reverse roll safety drop off the windowsill and down to the floor of the courtyard outside. |

Prayer Wheel #4
|
In the courtyard, will be three monks (37, 38,
39) that are hollering and ready for action. Turn around and
run forward, through the arch way, and turn right. Ahead on the left
wall is a ladder. Climb up the ladder into the dark spire, and when
Lara reaches the first floor, shift to the left and release onto the
floor. Light a flare, turn left and climb the next ladder. When Lara
passes the next floor, press jump to back flip off the ladder and land
on the next floor. Turn around to the left and climb the next ladder
up. When Lara passes the next floor, stop climbing and take another
back flip off the ladder with the up arrow key depressed to jump
across to the ladder on the opposite wall. Continue climbing until
Lara passes another floor and take a back flip to land on the floor.
Turn right, climb onto the pedestal and collect the fourth Prayer
Wheel (30). Drop backwards back down the the floor, and turn right. Light another flare, and perform a safety drop down the hole. Turn all the way around and perform another safety drop into the next hole. Walk forward and turn left to face the wall, and perform a third safety drop to the lower floor. Walk around to the left and take a standing jump and grab to reach the last ladder and climb down, because it's to far to make the last drop unharmed. When Lara reaches the floor of the courtyard, reverse directions and run forward and until she reaches to opposite wall, where there is a lever in the wall on the right. Throw the lever to open the door, and the monks will charge inside. Let them take care of the enemies as best they can, and kill any enemies that they fail to eliminate. Now enter the tunnel, and run forward. Collect a small Medi Pack (31) from one of the dead mercenaries, a large Medi Pack (32) from the other dead mercenary, and a box of shotgun shells (33) from one of the commandos. Run forward and at the landing of the stairs, turn right and continue to the top of the stairs. Turn right and exit the room, turning left to run down the tunnel, and turn left again to return to the passage with the pit. Run forward and drop into the pit, and immediately press the action key to grab the ladder. Climb up and pull up on the other side of the pit. Run forward to return to the stack of crates. Turn right and push the crate that is blocking the doorway once. And turn right to exit this room back to the hallway. Turn right upon exiting the hall and run to the end of the hall. Lara may not have noticed earlier, but there where two monks guarding this room. If there aren't any monks around, it might be a good idea to go get a few to help. Turn left and enter the hallway, ready weapons and reverse immediately. A mercenary (40) and a commando (41) will arrive. Kill them, with the assistance of any monks that might be around and collect grenades (34) from the mercenary and Uzi clips (35) from the commando. Now it's time to run the gauntlet. Walk forward into the tunnel that is full of traps until the first flame is extinguished. Stand on the very edge of the block that is adjacent to the burner as far away from the burner as possible while remaining on the adjacent block. Stand to one side of the block. Wait until the spiked ball that is on the same side as Lara is at the lowest point in its swing and is moving toward her, and take a dive and roll into the pit beneath the ball. Since her head is probably blocking the view of the ball, keep in mind that the other ball is swinging opposite to her. |

Trapdoor Key
|
Run forward and jump and grab the right side of the ledge of the and wait for the rolling blade to roll form right to left. As soon as it passes overhead, pull up, and watch for when the ball that is in front of Lara is at the lowest point in its swing and is traveling towards her. Take another dive and roll to land in the pit beneath the second set of spiked balls, but keep the up arrow key depressed, because in some cases Lara will not dive far enough and so she'll need to continue her forward momentum. Run forward to the end of this pit, and wait for the rolling blade to roll past, again from right to left. Pull up and run forward to the safety of the next room. Ahead and to the left is the Trapdoor key (36). | ||
SECRET #3
|
Now, turn around and walk back toward that last rolling blade. Stand
on the left side of the doorway, and turn slightly to the right. Lara
should be able to see an alcove on the other side of the hall. When
the rolling blade, rolls past from left to right, follow it and then
duck into the alcove on the left. Turn around and look ahead and to
the left. There is another alcove on the opposite side of the hall.
Wait until the rolling blade travels from left to right, and then run
forward and duck into the next alcove. Turn around and wait for the
rolling blade to travel from right to left, and run forward and turn
right, head for the last alcove on the left, and stop as soon as Lara
is clear of the rolling blade. Ahead are steel doors that snap shut, wait until they snap shut and begin to open to time a run straight through. Turn left and walk forward and stand in front of another set of metal doors. Again, wait until the doors shut, and as they open, run through and collect SECRET #3, the jade dragon (37) and four sets of M-16 clips (38, 39, 40, 41). To exit this passage, repeat the time run through the two metal jaws, and wait for the rolling blade to head to the right to run to the third alcove, then wait for the blade to travel from right to left again run to the middle alcove, and wait for the blade to travel from right to left a third time to run forward and turn left to exit this trap. |

Turn left and run forward into the tunnel, following it up and to the
left. At the crest of the tunnel, turn around and hop backwards to
slide down the slope, and safety drop into the dry pool below.
Reverse direction, and run forward and to the right to climb up the
ladder. Pull up, run left, and exit this room through the winding
passage to the main hallway. Upon reaching the hallway, turn right
and head back toward the main hall. Back at the main hall, turn left to run up the steps to the main floor of the hall, and turn right. Run across the hall and use the trapdoor key to open the trapdoor. Hop back and safety drop into the trapdoor. Run forward, through the tunnel and climb up on the other side. Turn right and run through the narrow doorway to a sandy area. Continue forward and angle to the right past the wider gateway, and up the long slope until Lara reaches a stone clearing at the top. Run forward and to the right through the natural rock formation that forms a sort of gateway. Ahead will be a tall column of rock. Run forward to the opposite wall, and turn right. Run along the rock wall, until Lara reaches a cave on the left. Turn left, and climb into the cave. Turn left again and scale the ladder until Lara reaches the top. Shift to the left and release to put her on the rock ledge. Turn left and walk forward and drop down to the lower ledge. Ready pistols and turn right. Run forward along the ledge on the right toward the far corner, and stop just before Lara reaches the corner. Angle Lara to the left and take a few running steps forward, and hop back as soon as a raven (42) appears on the left. Take a back flip back to the ledge on the right while firing on the raven. Once it's dead, ready more powerful weapons, and walk forward toward the opening between the rocks. Take a few steps forward into the pass between the rocks and a commando (43) will appear in the distance, lock on him and open fire while taking a back flip back through the pass. Take side flips to the left to use the rocks as cover while shooting at the enemy. After he's dead, collect M-16 clips (42) from him, and continue forward across the rope bridge. |

Prayer Wheel #5
|
At the other side, turn right and run forward up the slope to find
another monk (44) guarding a clearing and
an outpost that is embedded in the rocks. Upon entering the clearing,
Lara will also find two ravens (45, 46),
so ready pistols and take out the two ravens. At the entrance of the
clearing, turn right to find a steep slope. Stand on the left side of
the slope and take a standing jump up to the flatter slope above.
Walk forward onto the flat slope ahead, and take a running jump and
grab to reach the ledge ahead. Pull up and walk forward. At the far
end of the ledge, turn left and take a running jump and grab to reach
the roof of the building. Walk forward and safety drop into the hole.
Reverse directions, and climb onto the crates on the right to obtain
the fifth of the set of Prayer Wheels (43). Drop off the crates, and head toward the doorway. Pull the lever to open the doorway, and then exit the building. Turn left and ready pistols to deal with a mercenary (47) that has arrived. Collect a box of shotgun shells (44) then run back down the slope and across the rope bridge. Run forward through the pass, and head along the ledge on the left and turn left when Lara reaches the ladder. Boost up into the cave, and safety drop down the shaft, taking a little damage, to return to the ground. Run forward to exit the tunnel. Run forward and to the right to exit the area with the rock pillar, and continue running down the the next slope and ready pistols. As soon as Lara spots the commando (48), back flip back up the slope while opening fire. When he's dead, have Lara make her way down the slope and a mercenary (49) should appear. Again, back flip up the slope and fire until this enemy is dead. Run the rest of the way down the slope and enter the narrow gateway. Run across the courtyard, and continue on through the wide gateway to find another monk (50). Run forward and pull the lever to open the double doors on the left. Ready pistols and follow the monk inside to find another mercenary (51) and commando (52). Help the monks defeat them, and then run forward across the main hall, turning left and start heading down the stairs. Turn left at the first step and drop down into the trench between the base of the statue and the floor of the main hall. Run forward past the statue and turn right at the other end of the trench. Run up the stairs into the room behind the statue. Place the prayer wheels in the the open spaces, three on the right side and two on the left. When the last prayer wheel is in place, the double doors will open. Walk inside the room and walk forward up the ramp between the two flames. At the top of the ramp, place the seraph into its receptacle in the center of the large gold disk to open the door below and on the right. Hop back and drop off the right side of the ramp and run forward into the doorway to exit this level. |
