Bartoli's Hideout
Items: 28
Kills: 37
Bartoli's Hideout is no big deal. There are a few places that you might get stuck, but here's a few clues to send you on your way.
Knock, Knock
First things first. Get inside. Don't spend a lot of time or health running around outside. There's a lot more to be done.
My What Big
Swords You Have
The statues are not that difficult. Stand out of its reach and skirt forward when you have a chance. Stay relaxed and don't get too jumpy. Remember to light a flare when it gets too dark to see.
Out Of Reach
The balcony in the foyer is out of reach... or is it? Check out that steeply inclined wooden box.
Jokes On You
Risking life and limb to open a door that's out of reach? This is no joke. You need to take the high road. Each step must be executed perfectly, or else you're going for a swim and starting over. A few things to keep in mind. Even though some surfaces are too steeply inclined to stand on, you can usually grab the bottom edge of it and though you slide off whenever you try to pull up and stand on it, you always have enough time to jump off of it. Finally, remember these two words: Safety Drop!
Rock and Hard Places
These human enemies have quite a bit more intelligence than their former counterparts in the first game. This time they've got some strategy of their own. One thug approaches from behind while another and his dog attack from in front. You can try one of two counter strategies that seem to work. First one is tricky, but involves back flipping back onto the windowsill and squeezing or side jumping past the thug that's on your tail. Most likely you will get clubbed on the head once or twice. Once you're on the balcony, turn to face the thug and hop backward to put a little distance between you and him and bring him down as the second thug exits through the window, and then take the second thug out in series and finally pop the dog from the balcony. This strategy has a fairly fixed amount of damage you will probably take. The success of the second strategy varies from try to try, which is to charge the thug with the doberman, and attempt to make it through the double doors, usually involving jumping over the dog. Once in the other room, reverse and attempt to take out the dog first, as it's the fastest of the three enemies. Then keep backing away from the enemies -- out the doorway down the stairs if you must, and again take out the thugs in series.
Santa Croft
Now that you've cleared the room of thugs, cultists and dogs, you might find yourself at a loss for what to do now. In light of the holiday season in which this game was released, perhaps you can think about how Santa Claus might get out of this room.
Some Like It Hot
If you begin to experience a ominous feeling of deja vu, fear not, because the next part is a lot easier than you think. You can jump into the water and swim around to examine what jumps you need to take. Be careful when you reach the end, not to stand too near the re-lighting flame.
Fancy Lighting Fixtures
Surely this next room as something to do with these fancy lighting fixtures. As you head up from chandelier to chandelier, you'll notice switches to throw as you go. After you reveal what's behind the other painting You have to ask yourself, "How am I supposed to get there?" If only you could move the chandeliers around... well... you can! Look up.
I Want To
Blow Things Up!!
And Lara simply won't? That's because the detonator requires a key to unlock it for this precise reason: to prevent nuts like you from going around blowing all sorts of things up. Well, fortunately for you the key is somewhere around here... so get going!
Exit Please?
The door in the other courtyard refuses to open for you? Well, just like a prison inmate, it's time to go over the wall!
I Like It!
There are some big guns near the key to the detonator. It's a pretty circuitous route, but I guarantee it will be worth your while.
