Living Quarters |
Items: 14 |
Kills: 21 |
|
You'll be relieved that this level is far less intense than the previous, but don't be too relaxed, or you might get caught off guard near the end.
Aaaah Air! |
Or maybe not. The trapdoor may be way up there, but the lever that opens it is right around the corner.
Big Engine That Could |
The first order of business has to do with the engine, but that switch is way too high to get to from below. If only there were a way to get to that ledge way up on the other side of the room. You shouldn't be surprised that there is a way, but you might be surprised at what it is. Best get moving if you're going to find out. Nothing to see here.
Slow Roasted |
Quick thought: that rumbling sound is a bad thing. Don't just stand there. It's time to retreat. Now, with all these open flames, you'd think someone was holding a big barbecue. But the trick here is not to get grilled, but perhaps just slow roasted. Look up... there's a way to get there, but be warned, if you miss, you get no second chances.
Crank'er Up |
What did the lever just do the pistons? It gave the engine a little crank. Better go back and check out what's different. But now you can't get up to that first lever! Wonder if there's a way to stay up on that ledge while the pistons are in the other position? Of course there is!
One Good Push... |
... Deserves two more. Just because you can now drop down into that shaft doesn't mean you can climb back up. There's still a little more work to be done.
High Water |
So that lever floods the flame room, huh? Wonder what difference that makes? Go for a swim and look for a lever that you might not have noticed earlier.
My What Sharp Teeth |
...That huge sea serpent has! Remember, do nips from that fella and Lara's a goner. You must throw that switch. You can eat up a couple of Medi Packs to get past this beast, but there is, as far as we know, one way to get past it unharmed. It's not some kind of trick or timing issue. It's just a matter of find where this serpent can't reach.
Let's Talk Ventilation |
First things first, there's a rig worker that needs a little attention up on the ducts. Now, there's a lever that opens the door and then it's like this slot machine from hell in the next room. If you're having trouble getting across the platforms in time, then you're trying too hard to outsmart the game. Pull the levers in order from right to left (the order that you should come across them). Also, just because the the camera is showing you that the second platform is moving up, doesn't mean that Lara can't get moving, now does it? You know what you have to do... now just do it blind.
Pinball |
Lara's head feels like the ball. That double jump off the two slopes might be giving you a little grief. I don't know why it's made the way it is, but just keep the jump key down and let Lara bonk her head a few times and she'll eventually take the jump you need. Or you can let her slide down a little ways and press jump just before she slides off the end of the lower slope. Then it's just a matter of staying on the ducts, an obstructing crate, and a couple of tight jumps and you're out of here.
Jumping Beans |
The next puzzle can drive a person insane. Do they think Lara is a jumping bean? Clearly, you must jump from the lower floor up to that little space between the slanted wall and the broken wall, and then jump again to grab the crevice before the floor drops out. It's not as easy as it sounds folks, if you don't get it on the first try you can't try again from that space, but don't bother reloading a saved game. Take a jump out of that little space out to the opposite side you jumped in from. It is possible to get to that crevice from down there too.
It's a Pull! |
Endless fruitless mind-numbing wandering can be saved if you only pulled that next crate in the hallway instead of pushing it. What? But how does one get down to the floor then? Oh come now... those banisters are hardly a hurdle for Lara to clear. The other crate on the floor below the banisters is a red herring.
Out of Reach |
Trying every which way to get up to that doorway that leads to the deck outside? Well, you're not ready yet. There's still a couple of puzzles to solve before this level's over. Check around in that pit. At first you may think all you need is a boost, but what you'll find is a lot more action than you bargained for.
Showtime! |
So this is where everyone is hanging out? It figures that these good-for-nothing low-lifes would be hanging out here waiting for entertainment. Well, best not disappoint them. It's curtain call and you're going to give 'em a show they'll never forget.
Backstage Pass |
Find the switch that pulls open the curtains? The rest is a snap, just watch your step. With the flick of the wrist, a hop, skip, jump and short swim, and you're outta here. |
